The story

The Spirit Room occupies the ground floor of the Connor Hotel, which was built in 1898 during Jerome's copper mining boom. Although the hotel itself was largely destroyed by fire in 1899 and later rebuilt, it remained a prominent landmark in the town for decades. Today, the Spirit Room is considered the most active area of the former hotel, with bartenders, staff and patrons reporting unexplained phenomena after dark. Stories include bottles moving on their own, the jukebox switching on and off without anyone nearby, and the apparition of a woman believed by some to have been a former "working girl", who is said to appear in the mirror behind the bar.

What's reported here

Staff and customers report bottles shifting without explanation, the jukebox playing by itself, unexplained footsteps and sightings of a woman reflected in the mirror behind the bar. Cold spots, disembodied voices and an unexplained feeling of being watched are also commonly described.

History & background

The Spirit Room is housed within the surviving ground floor of the Connor Hotel, originally built in 1898 at the height of Jerome's copper mining industry. Today, it remains one of the town's best-known historic bars, preserving Jerome's colourful past while contributing to its reputation as one of Arizona's most haunted communities.
