The story

The Palace Saloon has been a fixture on Whiskey Row in Prescott since 1877, surviving fires, floods, and Prohibition. During the great Whiskey Row fire of 1900, regulars supposedly carried the mahogany bar out into the street and kept on drinking while the block burned around them. The historic bar survived and was eventually brought back inside. Ghost investigators report a man in 1880s attire seen sitting at the far end of the bar, the sound of gunshots on quiet nights, and cold spots that move through the room.

What's reported here

Staff, patrons and paranormal investigators report seeing a man in 1880s clothing seated at the far end of the bar, hearing unexplained gunshots on otherwise quiet nights and experiencing cold spots that seem to move through the room. Disembodied voices and shadowy figures have also been described.

History & background

Established in 1877, the Palace Saloon has stood at the heart of Whiskey Row through Prescott's boom years, surviving fires, floods and Prohibition. During the devastating Whiskey Row fire of 1900, locals famously carried the saloon's mahogany bar into the street before returning it once the building had been rebuilt. Today, the Palace remains one of Arizona's best-known historic saloons, preserving the atmosphere of the Old West.
