The story
Often called the most haunted house in Mississippi, McRaven House was built in three stages between 1797 and 1849 and served as both a Confederate field hospital and a private residence during the Siege of Vicksburg. The property passed through numerous owners who reported unaccountable lights, disembodied voices and the apparition of a young woman believed to be Mary Elizabeth Howard, who died in childbirth in the house in 1797. The house operates as a historic site and haunted tour destination.
