The Lemp family built one of America's most successful pre-Prohibition breweries and this grand Italianate mansion on DeMenil Place in St. Louis. Between 1904 and 1949, four members of the Lemp family died by suicide inside the home, and the once-thriving brewery was shuttered. The mansion now operates as a restaurant and inn where guests report apparitions of the Lemp family, doors that lock and unlock on their own and a persistent feeling of sorrow throughout the building.
